OVERVIEW

Asian Evaluation Week (AEW) is a global platform that brings together governments, multilateral and development organisations, evaluation practitioners, researchers and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, experiences and innovations in the field of monitoring and evaluation from across Asia and beyond. Over time, AEW has evolved to reflect the growing demand for evidence to guide smarter, more transparent, and more impactful decisions.

AEW 2026 will provide a platform to exchange insights, identify barriers, and build a shared understanding of how evidence can drive meaningful change under the theme “Put Your Money Where Your Evidence Is”.

DMEO is participating in AEW 2026 through a session titled “Creating Robust Data Systems for Aiding Large-Scale Evaluations”. The session brings together perspectives from government, multilateral organisations and development finance institutions on strengthening data and evidence systems for large-scale evaluations. The session will explore how digital transformation is reshaping the generation, integration and use of evidence. The discussion will examine approaches to building integrated and interoperable data ecosystems that connect monitoring, evaluation, administrative data and policy processes, while exploring the role of AI, advanced analytics and emerging technologies, alongside good practices in data governance and responsible use. It will also draw insights from embedding data systems and evaluations within complex, multi-partner initiatives, to identify lessons for strengthening evidence-informed decision-making.

The session will bring together representatives from DMEO, UNICEF, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) to share experiences and lessons on building stronger evidence ecosystems that support learning, accountability, adaptive management and more effective development outcomes.
