OVERVIEW

gLOCAL Evaluation Week is a unique, global knowledge-sharing event, connecting participants across sectors and regions. Over one week, people worldwide join local and international events to learn about various topics, gaining insights into regional and international monitoring and evaluation (M&E) ecosystems.

Launched in 2019, gLOCAL has become one of the largest M&E knowledge-sharing events, hosting thousands of events in multiple languages across six continents. gLOCAL event participants and hosts include international organizations, regional M&E bodies, (sub-) national governmental and non-governmental organizations, decision makers, commissioners, Voluntary Organizations for Professional Evaluation (VOPEs), academics, researchers, and students.

Convened by the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), gLOCAL supports strengthening national M&E systems and enhancing evidence use in countries. It was launched by the Centers for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEARs), a key GEI partner, which continues to organize regional events. GEI emphasizes country-owned efforts aligned with local needs and goals, making knowledge sharing a central mission.

DMEO has been a part of the gLOCAL initiatives since 2020 wherein webinars are organized jointly with our partners on themes/ areas of mutual interest. These webinars are recorded and widely disseminated over social media by DMEO and other partners.

Empowering Indigenous Capacities in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E): Strengthening M&E Capacities through RAPID Evaluation

June 06, 2024, 12:00 - 01:30 PM (IST)

The session will include an insightful discussion among representatives from participating universities; partner organizations involved in rigorous capacity building of a wide target group including students, M&E practitioners, government officials, among others; and institutes with existing capacities and curriculum on M&E. The discussion would entail sharing of experiences, challenges and strategies for sustainable indigenous capacity building on M&E

The intended outcomes of the panel discussion include:

  • Sharing lessons learnt from DMEO’s Rapid Evaluation of GoI schemes in collaboration with central/state universities.
  • Exploring strategies for embedding M&E principles into educational settings by recognising and leveraging indigenous knowledge systems and practices.
  • Cultivating a culture of M&E within the ecosystem through collaborative discussion and practical examples.
