Background:

The inaugural NCMEL in March 2021 focused on 'Institutionalizing M&E Practices for Sustainable Impact,' addressing emerging approaches, technologies, and the professionalisation of M&E. The 2022 conference centred on 'Monitoring & Evaluation for Sustainable Development through Cooperative Federalism,' extending discussions on capacities, inclusivity, data, and quality. The 2024 conference themed “Measuring Impact to Shaping Policies for a ‘Viksit Bharat’” aimed at solution-driven discussions, bringing together national and state governments, sectoral experts, academia, and international non-governmental organisations

Objectives of NCMEL 2026:

  1. To facilitate the exchange of international best practices and experiences in M&E for enhancement of global development outcomes.
  2. To foster partnerships between governments, international organizations, and civil society to strengthen the M&E ecosystem.
  3. To discuss strategies and international experiences for institutionalizing evaluation practices within government structures to support informed policy-making.
  4. To explore practices in creating collaborative pathways for advancing monitoring and evaluation systems within sub-national governance structures across countries, with a special focus on State Institutions of Transformation (SITs).
  5. To exchange experiences in institutionalisation of M&E capacities within universities and deliberate on their role in creating functional, sustainable and globally comparable M&E systems.
