Developmental Evaluation, Experimental Methods and Mixed Method

This session was organized under the capacity building initiative in partnership with BMGF. Dr. Pablo Vidueira works as an international consultant for the World Food Program and has recently joined the Global Alliance for the Future of Food as the Blue Marble Evaluator. Dr.Vidueira presented on ‘Developmental evaluation’ an approach that helps with the development of interventions that are tailored to specific contexts.

Dr. Laura Peck is a principal scientist at Abt Associates. Dr. Peck presented on how experimental methods can be combined with other approaches to understand the mechanisms by which programs work.

Dr. Barbara Befani specialises in innovative methods for impact evaluation. Dr. Befani presented on ‘process tracing’ which could help understand how programs work and could be used to quantify the strength of the evidence that supports the theory of change.
