Abstract
The International Monetary Fund estimates that by ensuring equal participation of women in the workforce, India could increase its GDP by 27 per cent. However, according to data from the World Bank, the Female Labour Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) in India has declined from 32 per cent in 2005 to 21 per cent in 2019. The challenge for India is not merely to increase the participation of women in the labour force but also to ensure that they have access to quality jobs with equal opportunities for upward mobility.
